Amazon launches revamped Luna game-streaming service

On Thursday, Amazon introduced its redesigned game-streaming service, Amazon Luna. The revamped service now features new beginner-friendly multiplayer games that can be controlled with a phone. It is available at no extra cost for Prime members.

The most significant update is the addition of GameNight. This is a collection of more than 25 local multiplayer games that Amazon states are designed to bring friends and family together in the living room. GameNight will include exclusive titles developed by Amazon Game Studios. The first of these is “Courtroom Chaos: Starring Snoop Dogg,” an AI voice-driven improv courtroom game. In this game, players invent absurd characters, create wild stories, and attempt to defend their testimonies before Judge Snoop Dogg.

Other titles available in GameNight include “Angry Birds Flock Party,” “Draw & Guess,” “The Jackbox Party Pack 9,” “Ticket to Ride,” “Exploding Kittens 2,” “Clue,” and “Tetris Effect: Connected.” By offering a library of multiplayer games that use phones as controllers, Amazon likely hopes Prime members will choose Luna for their next social gathering or game night.

Jeff Gattis, the general manager of Amazon Luna, stated that GameNight furthers the idea of easy access central to the new Luna. He described it as a collection of fun and approachable games that are best enjoyed with friends and family. He added that anyone with a smartphone can immediately start playing and have a great time, no matter their gaming experience.

Luna also provides access to new titles such as “Hogwarts Legacy,” “Indiana Jones and the Great Circle,” “Kingdom Come: Deliverance II,” and “TopSpin 2K25.” The service includes a variety of blockbusters, popular classics, and indie games. As was the case before the redesign, these games, and all titles outside the GameNight library, require a traditional controller or a mouse and keyboard to play.

For players seeking a larger library of games, a subscription to Luna Premium is available for nine dollars and ninety-nine cents per month. This tier, previously named Luna Plus, includes access to titles such as “EA SPORTS FC 25,” “Star Wars Jedi: Survivor,” and “Batman: Arkham Knight.”
