Amazon launches revamped Luna game streaming service

Amazon unveiled its revamped game streaming service, Amazon Luna, on Thursday. The updated service now includes new beginner-friendly multiplayer games that can be controlled with a phone. It is available at no extra cost for Prime members.

The most significant change is the introduction of GameNight. This is a collection of more than 25 local multiplayer games designed to bring friends and family together in the living room. GameNight will feature exclusive titles developed by Amazon Game Studios. The first of these is “Courtroom Chaos: Starring Snoop Dogg.” This is an AI voice-driven improv courtroom game where players invent absurd characters, spin wild stories, and try to defend their testimonies in front of Judge Snoop Dogg.

Other titles in the GameNight collection include “Angry Birds Flock Party,” “Draw & Guess,” “The Jackbox Party Pack 9,” “Ticket to Ride,” “Exploding Kittens 2,” “Clue,” and “Tetris Effect: Connected.” By offering a library of phone-controlled multiplayer games, Amazon likely hopes Prime members will use Luna for their next hangout or game night.

A company representative stated that GameNight extends the idea of easy access, delivering a collection of fun and approachable games that are best played with friends and family. He noted that anyone with a smartphone can dive right in and have a good time, regardless of their gaming experience.

Luna also provides access to new titles such as “Hogwarts Legacy,” “Indiana Jones and the Great Circle,” “Kingdom Come: Deliverance II,” and “TopSpin 2K25.” The service includes blockbusters, popular classics, and indie games. As before the update, these games, and all titles outside the GameNight library, require a controller or mouse and keyboard to play.

Players who want access to a larger library of games can subscribe to Luna Premium, previously called Luna+, for nine dollars and ninety-nine cents per month. The Premium subscription includes access to titles like “EA SPORTS FC 25,” “Star Wars Jedi: Survivor,” and “Batman: Arkham Knight.”
