Airbnb announced on Tuesday that it is expanding its services with a new category for car pickups across 125 cities worldwide. The company has partnered with the transportation service Welcome Pickups to allow users to book private car services in destinations like Paris, Bali, and Mexico City.
The travel company reported it has been running a pilot program this year in Europe and Asia, where thousands of guests used the feature and gave it an average rating of 4.96. Airbnb explained that once a stay is booked in a city where the service is available, guests will see an option to schedule a private cab in the Trips tab of the Airbnb app. Users can view their cab reservation details and make any changes directly within the app.
Dave Stephenson, chief business officer at Airbnb, stated that Airbnb Services are designed to enhance a guest’s stay, and the partnership with Welcome Pickups delivers that enhancement from the moment of arrival. The company plans to expand this service to more cities and locations throughout the year.
Airbnb originally launched its services category last summer alongside an expansion into experiences. At that time, it offered ten categories of services, allowing users to book chefs, catering, prepared meals, photography, massages, spa treatments, personal training, and hair, nail, and makeup services across eight countries.
In November, the company announced a partnership with Instacart that allows guests to order groceries before and during their stay in select U.S. cities. With this new feature rollout, Airbnb is moving toward offering a full stack of service offerings.
The company has also been experimenting with letting users book hotel rooms. During its fourth quarter 2025 earnings call, Airbnb CEO Brian Chesky said the opportunity in hotels is massive and will allow the platform to become a part of a user’s trip no matter what kind of stay a guest wants.
