AI chip startup Rebellions raises $400 million at $2.3B valuation in pre-IPOround

South Korean AI chip startup Rebellions has raised an additional $400 million in funding. This latest investment comes ahead of a planned initial public offering later this year and was led by Mirae Asset Financial Group and the Korea National Growth Fund.

The company, founded in 2020, designs AI chips for inference, which is the computing process that allows AI models to respond to user queries. Rebellions operates as a fabless company, meaning it develops the chip designs but outsources their manufacturing.

This new funding follows a successful $250 million Series C round in November. Prior to that, the company closed a $124 million Series B in early 2024. In total, Rebellions has now raised $850 million, with $650 million of that secured in just the last six months. The startup’s current valuation is approximately $2.34 billion.

Alongside the funding announcement, Rebellions introduced two new products: RebelRack and RebelPOD. These are AI infrastructure platforms where POD is a production-ready unit for inference computing, and Rack integrates multiple units into a scalable cluster for large-scale AI deployment.

The company is also pursuing an aggressive global expansion. It has recently established entities in the United States, Japan, Saudi Arabia, and Taiwan. As part of its U.S. strategy, Rebellions aims to build partnerships with cloud providers, government agencies, telecom operators, and specialized cloud platforms.

Rebellions is part of a new wave of chip startups seeking to challenge the established dominance of companies like NVIDIA. As the market evolves, other major technology firms, including AWS, Meta, and Google, are also developing their own AI chips.
